Ray Anderson - Curriculum Vitae

My life as a photographer began 20 years or so ago where my main interests were architecture, landscape and the environment.

As a keen amateur, I persued A-level photography as well as achieving ARPS status, achieved success in several photographic competitions, and have had my work exhibited in numerous exhibitions and published from time to time.

For 35 years I have worked in the construction industry as a consulting engineer, but have changed direction to fulfill a personal ambition to become the "photographer of choice" for architectural and commercial commissions.

I work in both monochrome and colour, but my personal passion is to work in monochrome with a creative, pictorial bias. I personally print all my monochrome images (up to A3) using a modern piezography system - a software product that drives the printer in a different way to that when run on the printer's own driver software.

When this is combined with Piezotone carbon pigment inks printed on to Hahnemuhle acid free paper, the results are stunning. This combination of inks and paper has a longevity in excess of 100 years. Images printed with this technique have been compared to Palladium / Platinum prints by some.

For architectural images I almost exclusively use a Silvestri 6x9 roll film wide angle shift camera - a camera specifically designed for architecture. It combines the convenience of roll film and the quality of 6x9 negs.

Whilst I have little formal training, I believe that my images speak for themselves;

..."Ray Anderson displays an impressive understanding of composition and the use of light and shadow, capturing the often overlooked beauty of urban structures, concrete and man - made spaces"...
